John Berger

John is currently CEO of Ascot Reinsurance Limited.  Previously he was Chairman & CEO of Third Point Re, Vice Chairman of Alterra Re, President and CEO of Harbor Point Re, President and CEO of Chubb Re, and President and CEO of F&G Re.   He began his career at Pru Re and General Re.  John has an AB in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA from Rutgers University. 


Charles Cooper
Chief Executive, Reinsurance, XL Catlin

Charles Cooper is Chief Executive of Reinsurance at XL Catlin and is a member of XL Group Ltd’s Leadership Team. Prior to January 1, 2017, he was Chief Executive of Bermuda Reinsurance for XL Catlin.

Charles has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, including 16 years with XL Catlin. He began his career with AIG and Zurich North America in New York, writing International Primary Casualty business. He transitioned to reinsurance when he joined XL Reinsurance America, Inc. in Stamford, Connecticut, in 2000 as an Assistant Vice President and Corporate Planning Analyst. In 2005, he transferred to the Bermuda office where he was Senior Vice President & Underwriter for XL Re Ltd with responsibility for Property catastrophe and specialty accounts business. In 2010, Charles assumed the role of President and Chief Underwriting officer of XL Re Ltd.



Jeffrey Farber
CFO, The Hanover Insurance Group

Jeff joined The Hanover in October 2016 as executive vice president and senior finance officer. He assumed the role of chief financial officer in early November with responsibility for the finance, accounting, investment, actuarial, enterprise risk management, treasury and investor relations functions of the company.

Jeff has established a successful track record in the insurance and financial services industries over the last 30 years. He has held senior executive roles at American International Group (AIG), where he served as the organization’s deputy chief financial officer and as chief risk officer for the company’s commercial and consumer businesses. Prior to AIG, Jeff served as chief financial officer of GAMCO Investors, Inc., a publicly-traded asset manager. Previously, he held senior accounting and finance roles at The Bear Stearns Companies, Inc. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche LLP, rising to partner in the firm. Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Lehigh University and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.


David Flandro
Global Head of Analytics, JLT Re

David Flandro is Global Head of Analytics at JLT Re. In this capacity, David heads all actuarial, strategic advisory, catastrophe modelling and sector research functions within JLT. He is additionally involved in providing analytics to JLT’s Specialty and Retail operations around the globe. 

David began his career in securities and derivatives trading. He arrived in London in 2003 as an equity analyst for Merrill Lynch with coverage of the European insurance sector. David effected a narrow escape from investment banking, joining Benfield in 2006 where he continued to research the insurance sector, this time with a focus on reinsurance credit risk. David then joined Guy Carpenter where he became that firm’s Global Head of Business Intelligence before graduating to JLT Re. 

His areas of keenest interest are helping clients to navigate regulatory, shareholder, and rating agency hurdles as they devise corporate strategies, exploiting comparative and competitive advantages in order to achieve above-market returns. 

David holds a BA (hons) in English literature and an MBA in financial engineering from MIT.


John Forney
President & Chief Executive Officer, UPC Insurance

John Forney has served as the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of UPC Insurance since June 14, 2012. He assumed the additional role of President in July 2013. From 2002 until he joined UPC, Mr. Forney served in a number of different capacities at Raymond James (NYSE: RJF), a financial services holding company based in St. Petersburg, Florida. He last served there as managing director in Raymond James' public finance department, where he managed the department and led the firm's investment banking efforts in catastrophe insurance financing. Mr. Forney received a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst
designation.




Nigel Frudd

Chief Strategy Officer, Sompo International Holdings Ltd

Nigel Frudd is Chief Strategy Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Sompo International Holdings Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sompo Holdings, Inc. (Sompo Holdings) and the successor to Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. In addition to these roles which he assumed on joining the company in March 2017, he is also Managing Executive Officer of Sompo Holdings, where he holds the titles of Head of Global M&A and Group Counsel. In these capacities, Mr. Frudd led the acquisition of Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. by Sompo Holdings. He has been a director of Sompo Canopius AG since 2014 and Sompo Canopius Reinsurance AG since 2015. Previously Mr. Frudd held senior executive positions in leading UK insurance companies, was a partner in four London law firms and a Partner in the Corporate Finance division of a leading UK firm of Chartered Accountants. Mr. Frudd has an LLB (Hons) from the University of Leeds, qualified as a Barrister (Gray's Inn) and as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court.


Brad Gow

Global Cyber Product Leader, Sompo International

Brad Gow is the Global Cyber Product Leader at Sompo International, where he provides oversight of the company’s cyber-related product development, underwriting operations and overall strategic direction.

Prior to Sompo’s acquisition of Endurance he served as Senior Vice President and Product Officer for Endurance Pro, which included underwriting management and oversight of all professional liability and cyber products and related services.

From 2002 through 2008 he was with ACE USA’s Professional Risk division, responsible for all professional liability product management operations. Mr. Gow also led ACE’s technology E&O and network risk underwriting operations, including the development of the ACE DigiTechsm line of products.

Mr. Gow co-founded NetDiligence in 2000, a venture backed organization providing network security, incident response and forensic computer investigation programs specifically suited to the needs of insurance carriers and brokers.

Mr. Gow also spent eight years working in the Asian insurance markets for CIGNA International and American International Group.

Sebastian Kafetz
Head of Insurance Coverage, North America, ‎Lloyds Banking Group

Seb Kafetz leads Lloyds Bank’s coverage of the North American insurance sector. Prior to moving to New York in May 2012, Seb spent 12 years with Lloyds Bank in London, the majority of which was spent managing relationships with global insurance clients with a particular focus on supporting P&C insurers and brokers operating within the Lloyd’s of London and Bermudian markets. Prior to working for Lloyds Bank, Seb completed a Masters in Management at Durham University Business School.


Bruce Lucas
Chairman & CEO, Heritage Insurance Holdings

Well known for his leadership and entrepreneurial skills, Mr. Lucas brings creativity and out-of-the-box thinking into making Heritage a best of breed company.  During his tenure as CEO, Heritage has grown in five years from a start-up Florida insurer to a multi-faceted insurance conglomerate with operations in 12 states and annual revenue approaching $1 billion.  Under Bruce’s leadership, Heritage has been listed as the fastest growing insurance company in the U.S. twice, completed six strategic acquisitions, and generated some of the highest shareholder returns in the Florida insurance market. 

Prior to Heritage, Mr. Lucas was co-founder and CEO of Infinity Investment Funds, and an attorney with Weil, Gotshal & Manges where he represented large institutional clients such as Enron and GE. Mr. Lucas graduated cum laude from Indiana University Law School with a B.A. and J.D., and was a Sigmund J. Beck Scholar. Mr. Lucas is most passionate about education based charities like Step Up for Students, and the Pinellas Education Foundation, where he serves on the board of directors.


Mark D. Lyons
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, ACGL

Mark D. Lyons is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of ACGL. He joined Arch in 2002, and served in various capacities within Arch Insurance U.S. operations, eventually rising to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Arch Worldwide Insurance Group. Prior to joining Arch, Mark held various positions at Zurich U.S., Berkshire Hathaway and American International Group. Mr. Lyons has a B.S. in mathematics from Elizabethtown College, is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society. He has also completed the Executive Program at the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University.


Michael Millette
Managing Partner, Hudson Structured Capital

Michael Millette is a Founder and Managing Partner of Hudson Structured, an alternative asset manager for reinsurance and transportation linked assets based in Connecticut and Bermuda.

Mr. Millette was at Goldman Sachs from 1994 to 2015. He was elected a Partner in 2006 and held a number of positions over the course of a 21-year career at the firm. Most recently, Mr. Millette was the Global Head of Structured Finance, Co-Head of the Structured Finance Capital Committee, and President of the Goldman Sachs Mortgage Corporation. Mr. Millette was the founding team member of both the Re/insurance structured finance and principal businesses. He was a team leader or key team member for over 150 transactions in the sector. He led distribution for the first 144A catastrophe bond in 1996. He also led teams that developed Goldman’s current businesses in Transport Finance, Intellectual Property Structured Finance, Private Placements and Project Finance, and spearheaded the development of the Principal Funding business in investment banking. He led the Structured Finance Capital Committee and sector teams in the rebuilding of the GS mortgage and consumer finance businesses following the financial crisis. He was a Member of the Bank Capital Committee, as well as the Client & Business Standards Committee for Investment Banking.
Mr. Millette began his career as an Analyst at Citibank and also previously worked as a Portfolio Manager at John Hancock Financial.

He graduated from Cornell University with a BA in History, Cum Laude, and also holds a Masters in Finance from Boston College, Carroll Graduate School of Management. Mr. Millette became a CFA in 1994.


Lara Mowery
Managing Director, Head of Global Property Specialty, Guy Carpenter

Lara Mowery leads Guy Carpenter’s Global Property Specialty Practice. Lara has also been responsible for development and implementation of several data management tools including GC MarketPlace™, a revolutionary web-based treaty placement system launched in January 2015. Lara has over 25 years of experience in property reinsurance. She lead the Guy Carpenter property practice group for the Midwest and Florida regions for several years prior to taking on her global role. She was one of the original members of the Portfolio Management Practice Group with a particular focus on hurricane solutions. She has extensive experience with residual markets and government entities including Florida Citizens and the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund, and has consulted for entities in New Madrid, Hawaii, Texas, Louisiana and New York in the United States. Lara has also advised government-sponsored catastrophe facilities in Mexico, Taiwan and Turkey, as well as with the World Bank. Lara joined Guy Carpenter 20 years ago from E.W. Blanch Co. Inc. and its sister company, Paragon. She holds a BA with Honors in Economics from Hamline University.


Andrew Robinson
Executive in Residence, Oak HC/FT

Throughout his career, Andrew has achieved strong financial results, and demonstrated outstanding strategic and operational leadership. He has successfully started up, grown and turned around numerous businesses as the President of a NYSE-traded multi-billion dollar property and casualty insurance company, and as a Partner in a global NASDAQ-traded technology-strategy consulting firm. His ability to define and execute growth strategies, identify and close on accretive M&A transactions, improve internal operations, integrate disruptive technology for competitive advantage, and establish strategic risk management have been key features of his achievements. Also central to his success is his track record in building and developing high performing, empowered teams. Andrew has accumulated broad based global experience working in over 15 countries covering Asia, Latin America, Europe, U.S. and Canada – and living and working in London for 10 years.

Andrew is an Executive in Residence at Oak HC/ FT, a premier venture growth equity fund investing in healthcare information and services and fintech, where his focus is on early and growth stage insurtech companies. In his prior role as Global Chief Operating Officer and EVP for Crawford & Company (NYSE:CRD-A, CRD-B), Andrew oversaw Crawford's four businesses with revenues of $1.1BN and 8000 employees. Andrew was President Specialty Insurance, EVP Corporate Development and Chief Risk Officer for The Hanover Insurance Group [NYSE:THG], a $5B market cap “A” rated international company and leading provider of property and casualty insurance in the U.S., where he was one of four executives reporting to the CEO with oversight of all aspects of management and P&L of the company’s six US specialty businesses with revenues of $750 million. In this role he started up the US specialty casualty businesses, turned around a major business line, launched over 20 new products, led development and execution of company’s business portfolio strategy, targeted, pursued and completed ten acquisitions and renewal rights, and led several key divestitures. As Chief Risk Officer, he put into practice a corporate-wide ERM approach, developed a corporate-wide RORAC assessment of portfolio performance, and built a U.S. risk and exposure management team from scratch.


Patrick G. Ryan
Chairman and CEO, Ryan Specialty Group, LLC

A widely respected entrepreneur and global insurance leader, Patrick G. Ryan formed Ryan Specialty Group, LLC (RSG) in 2010. RSG is an international holding company which includes wholesale brokerage, highly specialized underwriting companies and specialty services designed for brokers, agents and insurers. The company has offices across North America and Europe. Prior to launching RSG, Mr. Ryan founded Aon Corporation and served as its Chairman and CEO for 41 years. At Mr. Ryan’s retirement, Aon had more than 500 offices in 120 countries, generating revenues then in excess of $7 billion.

Mr. Ryan has received a number of accolades throughout his career. In 1987, Mr. Ryan received the esteemed Horatio Alger Award which honors those who are dedicated to the principles of integrity, hard work, perseverance and compassion for others. In 2008, Mr. Ryan was inducted in to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honorary societies and independent research centers, founded in 1780. Also in 2008, he was elected to the International Insurance Society Hall of Fame and received the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award. He was named by Brigham Young University International Executive of the Year for Corporate Integrity. Other career tributes include Insurance Leader of the Year from St. John’s University, and the Insurance Federation of New York's Free Enterprise Award.

Mr. Ryan has been a member of the Northwestern University’s Board of Trustees for 38 years, 14 years of which he served as Chairman. In 2009, Northwestern awarded Mr. Ryan a Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Also that year, Mr. Ryan was inducted that year into the Northwestern Athletic Hall of Fame. Four years later in 2013, Mr. Ryan received the Northwestern Alumni Association Medal of Honor. This award is the highest award granted by the Northwestern Alumni Association to an alumnus/a who combines superior professional distinction and/or exemplary volunteer service to society, with an outstanding record of service to Northwestern. 

Mr. Ryan has received numerous Insurance and Community awards and also served as Chairman of the Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid Committee.



Sarah Street
EVP, Strategy & Innovation Initiatives, XL Catlin

Sarah Street is Executive Vice President, Strategy and Innovation Initiatives for XL Catlin. Her responsibilities include acting as a director and investment team member for XL Innovate, working on various strategy projects, and serving as Non-Executive Chairman of New Ocean Management. She also serves as a board member of New Energy Risk and Stonestep. Sarah spent over nine years as Chief Investment Officer of XL Group. Before XL, Sarah worked at JPMorgan Chase for 16 years, including 10 years focused on hedge funds. Sarah earned her MA with honors from Oxford University, UK. Before going up to Oxford, Sarah volunteered in a remote village in India, running nursery schools and women’s empowerment programs. She currently serves as a board member of READ Global, which believes that empowering rural communities is critical to alleviating global poverty in developing countries.


Tony Ursano
President, TigerRisk

Tony Ursano joined TigerRisk Partners as President in April 2015 from Willis, where he was the founder and CEO of Willis Capital Markets & Advisory for six years and a member of the Willis Group Executive Committee. Prior to joining Willis, Tony was Vice Chairman of the Financial Institutions Group at Banc of America Securities. Between 1999 and 2008, he was Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group at Banc of America Securities, managing a team of more than 150 bankers. Prior to that, he was a senior director at Merrill Lynch for five years. Tony started his career at Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette and subsequently worked for SG Warburg in New York and London. He has over 28 years of experience as an investment banker focused on the insurance industry and is a frequent speaker on the state of the insurance and reinsurance industries.


Peter Wilson

CEO, AXIS Insurance

Peter Wilson was appointed Chief Executive Officer of AXIS Insurance in April 2014. He joined AXIS in May 2013 as President of U.S. Insurance. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Wilson served as President and Chief Operating Officer for CNA Specialty, a unit of CNA Financial Corporation, which is focused on professional and management liability, healthcare, surety and other specialized insurance products and services. During his more than 20-year tenure with CNA Financial Corporation, Mr. Wilson served in a number of leadership positions and had management responsibility for a diverse group of business units operating both in the U.S. and internationally. Prior to CNA, he served as an Executive Vice President at AIG, where he managed AIG’s commercial public D&O business in the U.S.


Keith Wolfe
President US P&C - Regional and National, Swiss Re

As the President of Swiss Reinsurance America Corporation, Keith Wolfe currently leads the US Regional and National team for Swiss Re. In this role, Keith is focused on serving the needs of US-based P&C insurance companies through brokers and direct client channels. He is based in the company's Americas Division headquarters in Armonk, NY. Keith spent the first half of his 20 year career in primary property insurance, holding various sales, operations and underwriting leadership roles at GE Insurance Solutions. In 2006, he joined Swiss Re via acquisition and relocated to Switzerland to focus on serving large, multinational insurance companies as part of the reinsurance business. He has been back in the US since 2009, leading the Regional and National business since 2013.
Keith holds a B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland and a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer and a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter.
